I totally agree... I think that our culture has become way too wrapped in performing for others and places too much emphasis on those who do such performing well. I believe that we should always, always be seeking after excellence, but in such a way that glorifies the One who gave talent to us in the first place.

BTW: I'm home... it's great to be back on US soil.

Absolutely. It's important to remember, too, that recent converts are babies in Christ. They have to unlearn much of what they previously knew. It would be a mistake to see him as a mentor for young people, and so on.

I fear, however, that this is precisely what will happen.

I'm wondering too if Welch told his band members that he became a Christian because he was searching for happiness...
